Abstract

1325169 Guiding webs EASTMAN KODAK CO 30 Oct 1970 [3 Nov 1969] 51755/70 Heading B8R A web-tracking device comprises a roller 2 mounted for rotational and pivotal movement at its midpoint 10 on a bearing 3 having ball bearings 4 mounted between an inner race 6 and a slightly loose outer race 8; one end of the roller 2 is supported by an adjustment assembly A which allows the roller to pivot about a gimbal axis 34, as illustrated by the arrows 35, and which also allows the roller to be adjustably positionable about an axis 32. Thus the device has three orthogonal axes, viz. the roller axis 30, the adjustment axis 32 and the gimbal axis 34, the axes 32, 34 being positionable with respect to the approach plane of the web 16, whereby the roller provides a stable adjustable lateral positioning of the web without imposing non- uniform stresses on the web. A modified assembly A is described with reference to Fig. 2 (not shown).
