Abstract
1324062 Variable capacitors INTERNATIONAL COMPUTERS Ltd 14 March 1972 [26 March 1971] 8233/71 Heading HIM [Also in Division G1] A variable capacitor has two sets of fixed interleaved electrode plates 13, 14 and a third set of interleaved, metallic screening plates 15 connected to a moveable member 9 so that they provide a greater degree of screening between the plates 13, 14 as they are moved further in between them. The capacitor forms part of a velocity transducer (see Division G1) In an alternative embodiment Fig. 4 the plates 15 are of a material possessing a high dielectric constant e.g. a ceramic. In a further embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown) the capacitor has two electrodes (10, 11) each consisting of two or more concentric spaced cylinders, the diameters being such that they may be interleaved, one electrode (10) is fixed and the other (11) attached to a moveable member whereby its movement varies the capacitance.
