Abstract

1323840 Chromatographic analysis CESKOSLOVENSKA AKADEMIE VED 11 Aug 1971 [11 Aug 1970] 37611/71 Heading B1X Effluent from a chromatography column 5 is deposited onto a disc 3 and rotated by hub 1 and shaft 2 until it is within ionisation detector 6, 7. A combustion promoting catalyst is added to the disc from 9 and the disc is heated by I.R. bulb 8 to drive off solvent before combustion occurs in the ioniser. The disc 3 may be a metal sheet or grid, a ceramic or quartz. In a modification the axis of rotation is vertical and the disc 3 becomes a cylinder, Fig. 3 (not shown). The apparatus is applicable to gas or liquid chromatography and can be used to analyse sugar, squalene or acetylacetonate. The carrier may be alcohol, hexane, water, acetone, a paraffin or argon.
