1321687 Roofs L BACCI 14 Oct 1970 [15 Oct 1969 12 Nov 1969 25 Nov 1969] 48779/70 Heading E1W A structural roofing unit as claimed in U.K. Specification No. 1,280,004 is manufactured by pre-casting concrete elements, e.g. 1 which each include a portion of each of two span beams 8 and a portion of each of two edge beams 13, which portions have longitudinal bars, e.g. 11 for tensioning wires, and also include openings 14 at each end of each portion of a span beam, the elements having bevelled edges 15. The end beams 2, and portions 3, 4 and tie beams 5 are also precast, and the elements of the unit are assembled in their correct configuration; adjustable oblique tie rods 9 are positioned, with tensioning wires are passed through the bores, e.g. 11; the elements are connected up with in-situ concrete where necessary; and the tensioning wires and oblique tie rods are tensioned. Each element 1 has stiffening flanges 16, 17 thereunder, and tie rods 6 thereacross.
