Abstract
1321535 Multi-cylinder paper dryers VALMET OY 19 April 1971 [21 April 1970] 9977/71 Heading F4G In order to prevent any net air flow through the ends of each pocket of a multi-cylinder paper dryer (which would cause fluttering of the paper margins), the air flows into (arrow A) and out of (arrow B) each pocket through wire mesh band 6 or 7 are made substantially equal, by disposing the band guiding roller 3 or 4 in a position (3a, 3b, or 3c) offset horizontally from the vertical median plane of the pocket towards the arriving paper web, in a similar way to that described in Specification 1,321,536. Values for the angles α + and α - for each position 3a, 3b, 3c (at 573, 671 or 769 mm. below the plane containing the axes of the upper drying cylinders 1, 1<SP>1</SP>) are given for different permeabilities of the mesh bands and different speeds of the paper web 5.
