Abstract

1320746 Mixing fluids in flow CHUBB FIRE SECURITY Ltd 23 Nov 1971 [2 Dec 1970] 57329/70 Heading B1C [Also in Division F1] An injector for introducing a foam stabilizing solution into a water stream comprises a jet member 4 and a throat member 9 disposed within a casing 1, ports 14 and 15 in the casing through which foam stabilizing solution is reduced by the flow of water through the members 4 and 9, and a rotatable sleeve 17, having two openings 19, for controlling the amounts of solution passing through the ports 14, 15. The ports 14, 15 are interconnected by passages 16 in the casing. As illustrated the sleeve 17 is secured to the throat member 9 and an arm 20 secured to the throat member is movable to move the throat member and the sleeve between one limit position (see Fig. 3) in which no solution can pass through ports 14, 15 and a second limit position in which the openings 19 are each in full register with a respective port. The openings are shaped so that the amount of solution induced varies linearly in proportion to the angular movement of the sleeve. A pointer 24 on the arm co-acts with a scale 25 on the casing. The rotatable sleeve 17 may in alternative arrangements be secured to the jet member 4 which will then be rotatable by means of a lever, or be integral with the jet or throat members.
