Abstract
1320727 Shrink wrapping BATES VENTIL SAEKKE CO AKTIESELSKAB SAEKKEIEJE-KOMPAGNIET AS and FYENS SAEKKEKOMPAGNT AKTIESELSKAB [trading as INTERESSENTSKABET NYBORG PLAST FABRIKATION OG HANDEL] 28 Sept 1970 [26 Sept 1969] 46116/70 Heading B8C In order to form a handle on a package formed by wrapping articles such as bottles 5 in heat shrinkable film 3, a handhole (20, Fig. 2) formed in a double walled handle strip is prevented from shrinking during heat treatment of the package. To form the latter the bottles 5 are moved vertically downwardly on to a web of film supported on rollers 1, 4 so that the cutter 11 and welders 10, 13 of a reciprocating tool 9 can form the handhole, and strip defining welds (19, 21, Fig. 2) in opposed portions 8 of the film 3 carried down by the bottles 5. The tool 9 also comprises a welder 15 for forming the bottom weld 22 of each package and a cutter 14 for severing the package from the web. After wrapping, the open-ended package is passed through a heat shrinking tunnel (24 Fig. 2) where either a cooling element (25, Fig. 2) or a punch inserted into the handhole prevent shrinkage of the latter.
