Abstract
1318209 Coating by spraying CASTOLIN SA 14 May 1970 [14 May 1969] 23359/70 Heading B2E [Also in Division C7] A metal surface to be coated by spraying is first coated with a contact layer comprising a matrix which is sprayed onto the surface and coarse grains which are fixed by melting the matrix, the grain size being greater than the depth of the matrix. In an example a pig iron mould is sprayed with a Ni-Cr-B-Si alloy, the coating melted and grains of the alloy applied, and then a further layer of the alloy is sprayed on the contact layer. The whole may be subsequently heated at 1000‹C. In a further example, a fan blade is sprayed with a Sn-Zn alloy, which is fused, and then sand is projected into the fused layer. The surface is then sprayed with a polyamide.
