Abstract

1318207 Door seals KENWOOD MFG (WOKING) Ltd 29 Dec 1970 [23 March 1970] 14026/70 Heading E1J [Also in Division F4] To provide a sealing arrangement between the door and frame of a cabinet such as a refrigerator or dishwasher, the door or the frame includes a channel defined by a panel 10 of the frame or door, a web (12) extending from the panel perpendicularly and a limb (13) extending from and parallel to the panel, and a gasket 24, e.g. of rubber, having a supporting flange 15 disposed within the channel and engaging at least a portion of the web 12 with one face abutting the limb 13, and the other face being pressed by a liner 17 of the door or frame. The flange 15 may be thick enough to fill the channel at 26 and include a groove to receive the marginal portion 16 of the liner 17 or a leaf spring 29 (Figs. 1 to 3 not shown) may be provided to press the liner against the flange 15 and hence the flange against the limb 13. In alternative forms the gasket may be of hollow rectangular section and may contain a magnet to cooperate with its opposing metal contact on frame or door, or the gasket may have a single downwardly inclined sealing lip.
