Abstract
1317854 Erecting towers; hoists; load engaging devices TALISMAN CONTRACTING & EQUIPMENT Ltd 16 June 1971 [6 July 1970] 28146/71 Headings B8B and B8H An apparatus for erecting a vertically sectional tower comprises a pair of hydraulic jacks 32 suspended from each of two guide frames 30 through which the tower is slidable and having their lower ends releasably engageable with the lowermost section of one of two columns 18 forming the tower, whereby the tower is liftable by the jacks to facilitate insertion and connection of a further tower section to each column. Each of the tower sections includes tongues at one end and recesses at the other, both with apertures, whereby adjacent sections can be mated and pinned, the lower sections being mated on tongues 29 on a base frame 28. The tower is slidably guided by frames 60 at each level or platform 10, it extends past. A coupling unit 40 pivoted to the lower end of each jack includes a pair of lugs movable out into engagement with brackets on the tower sections prior to lifting. The lugs 45 are formed on members 43 mounted for horizontal sliding movement between plates 41, the movement being controlled by cam tracks 51 in turnable discs 46 engaging pins 52 extending from the members 43. The lugs 45 may be replaced by pins engageable in apertures in the tower sections. (For Figures see next page)
