Abstract

1316550 Packaging machines AMF Inc 25 Nov 1971 [1 Dec 1970] 54882/71 Heading B8C [Also in Division F2] An automatic cigarette packing machine inincludes apparatus for receiving and inverting cigarette carrying trays C which comprises a tray receiving container 2 mounted on an output shaft 1 which is intermittently rotated through 180 degrees. Shaft 5 is continuously driven by pinion 8 slidably keyed on the shaft and carries a worm 7 meshing with worm gear 3 on shaft 1. Rotation of shaft 1 is periodically checked as roller 12 on a spring-loaded detent lever 10 engages projections 104 on a disc secured to gear 3. Worm 7 then draws shaft 5 axially forward against spring 16 until worm head 107 disengages detent lever 10. Rotation of shaft 1 then recommences, and shaft 5 is returned to the starting position.
