Abstract
1314920 Semi-conductor relay circuits SIE. MENS AG 15 Dec 1971 [18 Dec 1970] 58353/71 Heading H3T A holding current I H is supplied by a source G to the coil kl of a relay or electromagnetic valve not shown, via a choke k2, a capacitor k3 being discharged by a semi-conductor switch n3 into the coil to add to I H to initially energize the relay, and a second capacitor k4 being discharged by n4 into the coil k1 to oppose I H and de-energize the relay. The capacitors are externally charged, and the current from k3 during energization is arranged preferably to be a multiple of I H . The opposing current I A from n4 is arranged to flow for between five and ten times the de-energization time required for the relay, and is large enough to overcome the k3 current I E in case both should overlap. The choke k2 has an inductance greater than the coil k1 and the switches are S.C.R.'s.
