[Also in Groups XXI and XXIX] A lift valve 4 (for a water main) has a magnet 26, influencing the armature 27 of electric switch 18, 19, under the control of a piston 12 in a through passage 13 in the valve. The switch 18, 19 controls pumps (not shown), supplying the inlet. The piston 12 and magnet 26 may return to their lower position by gravity or under springs (not shown) or both.
