Abstract

1314512 Continuous rod making-machines MOLINS MACHINE Co Ltd 10 April 1970 [10 April 1969] 18392/69 Heading A2C A tongue assembly, for the garniture of a continuous cigarette filter rod making-machine, which is of inverted channel cross-section and is formed with a generally diminishing internal cross-section along its length in the downstream direction, includes one or more intermediate divergent portions 17 along its length. The assembly may comprise a single tongue 4, as shown, or two tongues positioned end to end. In the apparatus disclosed, a web of filter material is fed through a frusto-conical guide (5) into the flared end 4a of the tongue 4 which latter is sited above a garniture bed (1). Subsequent folding and heat sealing of a wrapper (9) around the filter rod is effected in known manner except for the interposing of the rod diameter control of Specification 1314513 between the folding and heat sealing devices.
