Abstract

1314443 Releasable fastenings GROOM & LLEWELLYN Ltd and BP CHEMICALS Ltd 19 April 1971 [14 May 1970] 23383/70 Headings E2A and E2B A releasable clamping device for a deck section of a distillation tower has a bolt 14, Fig. 1, which has a cam 19 attached at one end thereof and has slots 15, Fig. 3, formed therein to receive a fastening plate 16, Fig. 2, the shape of which allows engagement by a tool (not shown) in order to rotate the bolt. When assembled to a plate 10, Fig. 1, the bolt is rotatably mounted in a bush 12 of P.T.F.E. which is fitted within a metal bush 11. The latter has one end spot welded to the plate 10 and has the other end provided with a washer 13 of P.T.F.E. A spring 18 is located between the fastening plate 16 and the plate 10. The bolt 14 is rotated by the tool and the cam 19 engages a fixed part (not shown) of the tower. In a modification as shown in Fig. 4 a metal bush 23 has an extension 21 which passes through the plate 10 and a P.T.F.E. washer is provided between the bush 23 and the plate 10.
