1311097 Testing cigarettes MOLINS MACHINE CO Ltd 14 May 1970 [16 May 1969] 25151/69 Heading A2C Means for testing the filling of the tobacco ends of cigarettes comprises a plunger 6 for pressing the end of each cigarette lightly against an apertured stop 8, suction means 12 for holding the cigarette with its end against the stop, and a testing plunger 10 movable in the aperture to produce an output signal indicative of an inadequately filled end. The plunger 6 may be driven by a spring or air pressure. Cigarettes may be carried by a fluted drum 2 each flute of which has associated plungers 6, 10 operating in timed sequence.
