Abstract

1309945 Dolls ROVEX Ltd 10 June 1971 [20 March 1970] 13640/70 Heading A6S A doll comprises a trunk 3 and a pair of legs 4 pivotally attached to the trunk, each leg having a projection which engages a corresponding run of a taut elastic band 10 within the torso upon movement of the leg backwards from a normal standing position. As shown the band is held by three hook-shaped fasteners 7 pressed into holes 6 in the wall of the trunk. Each leg is provided with a circular spigot 12 with an annular groove 13 that is received within a corresponding leg opening 5 in the trunk, the spigot being at an angle of 60‹ to the vertical axis of the leg and preferably formed with a helical lead-in groove 14 to facilitate assembly. The elastic band passes through a gap 17 between two projections 15, 16 from the end of the spigot. When the leg is moved backwards the elastic band is deformed into a Z-shape and applies a restoring couple to the leg. On forward movement of the leg the band is substantially disengaged from the projections. The doll may be "walked" by keeping one of the dolls feet positioned on the ground, moving the trunk forward and then tilting the body to allow the leg to spring forward.
