Abstract
1309086 Fluorosilicic acid and fluorosilicates FISONS Ltd 23 Oct 1970 [15 Nov 1969] 56039/69 Heading C1A Fluorosilicic acid or water-soluble salts of fluorosilicic acid (e.g. the Mg, Zn or NH 4 salt) are decolorized by treating an aqueous solution of the acid or salt with an oxidizing agent having a standard oxidation potential of less than - 0À53 volts, e.g. sodium hypochlorite, ferric chloride, potassium iodate, potassium permanganate or hydrogen peroxide which removes iodide anions and then treating the solution to remove free iodine, e.g. by passing the solution through a column of active carbon, solvent extraction, volatilization or precipitation as an insoluble iodide.
