Abstract

1308909 Knitting COURTAULDS Ltd 6 May- 1970 [7 May 1969] 23343/69 Heading D1K In a method of knitting non-run starting courses of an article joined to a previous article a by a draw-thread b, a first starting course c is knitted, alternate loops of a subsequent course d are pulled through alternate loops of course c, and a final course f is knitted through the retained intervening loops of courses c and d when the draw thread is removed loops in the alternate wales x of the first and subsequent courses ladder and become interlaced with the last course, Fig. 1B. In the embodiment shown a knit-tuck course e is included before the last course. In a second embodiment course f is a knit-tuck course; in a third, course e is knit-miss. In a fourth embodiment the above two variants are combined. In a fifth embodiment, Figs. 5A-C (not shown), course c is followed by a knit-tuck course d, loops in the knit wales of which are then cast off, and a final knit course f, is knitted. Several courses d may be knitted in each variant; course c may be a knit-tuck course. Courses c and d may be of elastomeric yarn or yarn which will relax when suitably treated.
