Abstract
1308329 Drafting and condensing webs into sliver BURLINGTON INDUSTRIES Inc 22 June 1970 [18 July 1969] 30201/70 Headings DID D1F and DIN A web 10, 12 is drafted in a device comprising a gilling stage B, a condensing stage G, an apron drafting stage H, a second condensing stage and a crimping stage 92, 94. The sliver produced is then delivered to a coiler 110. As shown, two webs, 10, 12 are each passed through a pair of cutting rollers to sever the continuous filaments into staple length fibres. The fibres are then condensed and fed through a gilling stage B, condensed again and fed into the higher draft apron drafting stage H. Any sideway movement of the aprons is prevented by the use of stepped steel rollers and stepped rubber covered rollers. The rollers may have metal driving pieces at their ends. The fibres are then passed through a stuffer box crimper (Fig. 3) and passed to a coiling can. Specifications 1308330, 1246333 and 1246334 are referred to.
