Abstract

1308293 Vehicle wheels R F HOLBROW 13 March 1970 [13 Dec 1968 8 Feb 1969] 59550/68 and 6961/69 Heading B7C A wheel disc 10a and a wheel 24 are clamped to a wheel bearing member 29a by wheel nuts 12 screwed on to studs 29 of the member 29a, each nut 12 being provided with a cylindrical portion 12a having a frusto-conical or rounded end face 32 seated in a depression 36 ih the wheel and a nylon cone washer 40 or a spring clip (not shown) abutting the head 12b of the nut and a corresponding countersunk surface 31 of a hole 28 in the cover disc. The spring clip may be circular and serpentine, mounted in a groove in the nut head and engaging a stepped bore in the wheel disc. The disc is cast in magnesium alloy, with raised spoke formations (11), to form recesses in which the nuts are disposed, and cut-outs (16), Fig. 1 (not shown).
