Abstract

1305760 Stretcher support apparatus BINZ & CO 9 Sept 1970 [9 Sept 1969] 43179/70 Heading B7B An ambulance stretcher comprises a platform 10 pivoted at one end to a support and supported at its opposite end by a resilient mounting and further includes stop means for limiting upward movement of the platform under the action of the resilient mounting. In one embodiment the rear support 12 is pivoted to the vehicle floor at 16 and is bent to form a crossmember 12a from which arms 12b extend which are linked to the platform by pivotable joints 17. The front support 11 is bent and pivoted to the vehicle floor at 14 and the resilient mounting comprises conical or paraboloid rubber buffers 22, Fig. 4, vulcanized to bearing plates which are screwed to bearing seats 21 formed on bearing sleeves 20 rotatably mounted on the free ends of a cross shaft 19. A guide rod 25 has an adjustable nut 26 which engages the platform 10 to allow pre-tensioning of the buffers 22. The springing effect of the guffers 22 is eliminated by a locking device, Fig. 6, which includes a pin 28 which is advanced against the action of a spring (not shown) in a sleeve 31 on the platform 10 to engage a locking groove 29 of an arm 25 rotatably mounted on the shaft 19. The arm 35 is guided in grooves 36 of two pin ends or rollers 37 arranged on the platform 10. In another embodiment, Fig. 10, the platform 110 is supported at its rear end by rollers 138 moving in guides 138a and its front end is slidable on an auxiliary frame 140 by means of rollers 139 mounted on the platform. The auxiliary frame is hinged at 141 to a cross rail 142 rigidly fixed to the vehicle floor, and its elevated cross member 140b is connected to rubber springs 122 on the vehicle floor. The stretcher is similarly provided with a guide pin (125), Fig. 12 (not shown), for pre-tensioning the springs and a locking device 127 for eliminating the spring action.
