Abstract

1301662 Casting concrete panels WATES Ltd 12 Dec 1969 [20 Jan 1969] 3247/69 Heading B5A [Also in Division El] A mould for forming a pre-cast concrete wall panel comprises two wide walls 2, narrow lateral walls (3, 4, Fig. 1, not shown), a narrow bottom wall 5 of shallow V-section, and a ridge formed of pieces 9-12 projecting into the mould space from the wall 5, of which pieces 9, 10 are short pieces disposed flush with the respective walls 2, piece 11 is disposed flush with the central portion of the wall 5, and piece 12 is a metal tube adapted to form an integral part of the wall panel 18 formed by the mould. An internally threaded sleeve 13 is welded to the top face 12b of tube 12 to receive a threaded rod 16. Concrete is poured into this mould and when set produces a panel 18 which has the tube 12 embedded in its lower portion and the rod 16 projecting from its upper portion to allow connection of two such panels, whilst apertures 25 are formed in the panel at the ends of the tube 12 by the mould pieces 9, 10. To join one such panel 18<SP>1</SP> supporting floor slabs 19 to an upper panel 18, nut 16<SP>1</SP> and nut 23 of the lower-panel are inserted through an aperture in base 12a of the upper panel tube 12 until nut 23 abutstop face 12b of the upper panel to support the latter. Mortar 22 is now introduced and, after this has set, nut 23 is screwed against washer 24 supported on base 12a and the mortar. A looped wire 14, previously welded to tube base 12, assists keying of the upper panel into the mortar 22.
