Abstract

1300856 Nuts WIELAND-WERKE AG 12 Feb 1971 [3 March 1970] 4544/71 Heading F2H A split nut 7 comprises two halves 8, 9 connected together by resilient means so that they are movable towards and away from each other diametrically of the nut bore to allow the nut to be passed between the lips 6, 7 of a housing slot 3 and then expand to grip the side walls 31, 32 of the slot. The nut 7 may be of metal or plastics integral with oval connecting means 11 (Fig. 1). Alternatively the connecting means 11 may be in two halves held together by the nut halves 8, 9. In Fig. 4 the nut halves are connected together by spring steel members 13, 14 joined at their ends. In Figs. 5, 6 a U-shaped spring steel connecting member is used. The nut may have more than one threaded bore (Fig. 11, not shown). In Fig. 1, a wall anchor 1 is secured to a metal window or door frame 2 by a bolt 37 which engages the split nut 7 housed in a slot 3 of the frame 2.
