Abstract

1300351 Continuous roll towel dispensers STEINER CO LAUSANNE S A 13 Jan 1971 [15 Jan 1970] 1765/71 Heading A4G On pulling down a towel loop 82, clean towel from a roll 80 is dispensed over a measuring roll 50 and a pinch roll 55 through an opening 85 and the used towel is wound-up on a take-up roll 65. The roll 80 is mounted in an open-top receptacle 100 which includes a hinged cover 120 preventing dirt carried by the soiled towel from falling onto the roll. The pulling on the towel loop 82 rotates pinch roll 55, which rotates the measuring roll 50 since the latter includes a friction cover 51 of e.g. sandpaper, emery cloth. Roll 50 rotates a predetermined amount determined by time-relay means and drives a roll 60, which through a friction cover 61 rotates roll 65 anti-clockwise. Should roll 60 be violently stopped, roll 65 rotates and rolls over the surface of roll 61 from a normal rear position adjacent guides 66 to a forward position adjacent guides 67 and excess towel is wound onto roll 65. During the next dispensing operation, initially roll 60 rotates and carries roll 65 back to its normal position, during which no towel is wound. As the towel is wound onto roll 65, the latter moves upwardly between the converging guides 66, 67. A shield 70 beneath rolls 50, 60 protects the latter from dirt and provides towel guides 75, 76, Fig. 3 (not shown). To load, an upper door 20 is unlocked and pivoted upwardly on its hinges 21 and the receptacle 100 is pivoted outwardly about brackets 115 and cover 120 lifted about its hinge 123, see Fig.2 (not shown). Roll 55 can be moved upwardly in guides 58, Fig. 3 (not shown). In use, curved edges 33, 35, 108, 109 on the housing 10 and the receptacle 100 respectively define a sinuous return path for smoothing the towel. The cover 120 also includes a trough 124 and side flanges 127, 128 for receiving and guiding dirt. The entire dispensing mechanism is demountably supported in the housing 10.
