The dyes are prepared by azo coupling using appropriate components (see Division C2). When Y is -COR the dyes may be hydrolysed. The dyes may be used to colour wool, silk, nylon, rayon, polyacrylonitrile and, in particular, cotton and paper in yellow to red shades.
