Abstract
The invention comprises dyestuffs of formula <FORM:0789025/IV (b)/1> where R is an alkyl group of 1-4 C atoms, X is a b -hydroxyethyl, g -hydroxypropyl or b ,g -dihydroxypropyl group, Y is an alkyl group of 1-4 C atoms, a b -hydroxyethyl or a g -hydroxypropyl group and Z is hydrogen, halogen or a methyl or trifluoromethyl group. They are made by diazotizing a 2-trifluoromethyl-aniline-4-alkylsulphone and coupling with an appropriate amine. Diazo-components specified are 2-amino-5-methane, -ethane, -n- and iso-propane and -n-butane sulphonyl-benzotrifluoride. Coupling components specified are N-ethyl-N-b -hydroxyethyl- and N,N-bis-b -hydroxyethyl, N-n-butyl-N-b -hydroxyethyl-m-chloro- and N-ethyl - N - b ,g - dihydroxy - and - g - hydroxypropyl-anilines, N,N-bis-b -hydroxyethyl- and N - n - butyl - N - b - hydroxyethyl - toluidines, and N,N - bis - b - hydroxyethyl - m - aminobenzotrifluoride. The dyestuffs in the form of aqueous dispersions dye cellulose acetate rayon and nylon fibres in orange or red shades. Examples are provided of the preparation of the dyestuffs from certain of the above-specified reactants and their use in dyeing processes.
