Abstract

1298768 Cartons PACKAGING CORP OF AMERICA 18 Feb 1970 [10 July 1969] 7779/70 Heading B8P A carton, for example for eggs, comprises a tray section 11 having upright front, back and end walls, a cover section 13 having a panel 22 with front, back and end walls depending therefrom, a hinge section 14 interconnecting the back walls of the tray and cover sections, and members 26a and 26b projecting upwardly from the ends of the tray section to guide the interior surfaces of the end walls of the cover section during closure. Hinge section 14 includes protuberances 32 extending into the carton. Posts 25a-25e between egg cells 12 are reinforced by ribs 27. Stability of the carton when stacked is improved by ribs 31 on the underneath of each cell 12. Bracing flange 40 is tucked inside the cover section when the carton is closed. The carton may be formed by moulding pulp, or vacuum-or thermoforming or injection moulding a plastic.
