1297141 Tunnelling machines GREENSIDE MACHINE CO Ltd 22 Dec 1969 [4 Jan 1969] 687/69 Heading E1F In a method of forming a tunnel rotary cutters 16A, 16B having picks (not shown) are moved about an axis parallel to and between the axes of rotation of the heads, and the heads are then traversed to radially new positions and again moved about the axis. The heads are radially movable on an arm 12 carried by a torque shaft 11. The shaft, which is moved axially by a ram 20, is rotated through 180‹ by units 18. In a modification the shaft may be rotated through 360‹ by a ring gear.
