Abstract
1296679 Discus aircraft; submarine craft Z CATSOUNOTOS 12 May 1970 [14 May 1969] 24674/69 Headings B7V and B7W A discus aircraft capable of operating as a submarine craft in either full size or model form comprises a hull 1 propelled in the air by jet propulsion engines 4, 5 housed in ducts positioned above normal water level when the craft is floating and which may be sealed by means 12-15 when the craft operates as a submarine. The craft is controlled in the air by a rudder 7 and spaced elevators 8, 9, which operate as shown in Fig. 1 on opposite sides of the body, or by a single elevator pivoted on a tail plane located between fins 6. Control under water is provided by retractable flaps 19-21 and diving flaps 16, 17. Remotely controlled mechanisms operate the engines and control surfaces when in model form.
