Abstract

July 18, 1918 Hulls, cleaning.-A brush device comprises a rectangular or like support A, Fig. 5, one or more brushes B, and anti-friction rollers C or the like adjustably mounted in end plates C<x> on the support A. The back of the support is hollow and has a water passage E with a flap E<1> which allows water to flow through when the brush moves in one direction, and closes in the other direction and assists in forcing the brush surface against the ship. The brush is connected by chain slings or tackle with the hauling-cables Z, Fig. 8. An inclined cradle H is used, when the ship has bilge keels W<1>, W<2> in order to get the brush over the said keels, as shown.
