Abstract

1407497 Submerged storage tanks MITSUI SHIPBUILDING & ENG CO Ltd 15 Sept 1972 42827/72 Heading B7A An underwater storage assembly comprising oil storage tank 1 with buoyancy adjusting tank 2 secured around it, is moored to the sea bed by lines 5 and sinker weights 9. Ports 3 and 4 are provided in the storage tank for oil and water respectively and in the buoyancy adjusting tank ports 12 and 11 are respectively for water and air. Oil and water are charged and discharged into or from the oil storage tank in displacing relationship by lines 6, 7, 8 and air and water are charged by line 15 into and from the buoyancy tank so that the whole assembly is controlled to have a relatively small buoyancy at all times.
