Abstract

1293924 Releasable fastenings E ALDRIDGE & SON (LOCKSMITHS) Ltd 13 March 1970 [21 March 1969] 14980/69 Heading E2A A frame or casing 1 houses a lock 4 or locking mechanism and is adapted for removable fitting to the edge zone of a door or the like by slidable engagement therewith, the lock comprising a bolt 8 extensible, when actuated, beyond the periphery of the door or the like, in order to engage an adjacent fixture 10 and thus lock the door or the like. As shown the casing is constructed from a piece of sheet metal bent to S-shape with end walls 3 welded in position to complete a box-like shape, which has a U shaped channel at one side; the end walls 3 are provided with inturned lugs 5 tapped to receive screws 6 by which the face plate of the lock 4 is secured to the casing. Metal packing strips 11 are provided which can be disposed in the U-shaped channel if the door or the like is smaller in thickness than the width of the channel, these packing strips being held in place by screws 12 which pass through counter sunk holes in one wall of a member 2 of the channel.
