Abstract
1293739 Floating docks GOTAVERKEN. AB 28 May 1971 [1 June 1970] 17836/71 Heading B7S A floating dock for dry-docking part of a ship has a rigid bottom 22, side walls 13, 14, and at least one end wall which can be adjusted in shape to make a water tight fit against the ship's hull. As shown in Fig. 5 the end wall consists of individually adjustable vertically slidable hollow ribs 21 which are interconnected by tongue and groove assemblies with inflatable seals (Fig. 12, not shown), and carry an inflatable hull engaging seal 20. Stops 23 provide an initial rough adjustment for the ribs which are moved into their final positions by pumping air into their hollow interiors. In a modification (Fig. 15) the end wall consists of a series of fan connected hollow plates 35 carrying seal 20. The ribs or plates can, according to a modification, be moved hydraulically, and the adjustable walls may be at an angle to one another.
