Abstract
1292597 Bowden mechanisms BOWDEN CONTROLS Ltd 9 Dec 1969 [10 Dec 1968] 58583/68 Heading F2K A Bowden cable has a conduit provided with a synthetic plastics liner tube, e.g. of high density polyethylene, and a core provided with an adherent coating comprising mainly a thermoplastics material, e.g. nylon, which requires a higher compressive stress to produce a 1% deformation than is required to produce a 1% deformation, under the same conditions of the material used for the liner tube. The liner tube may be a separate loose tube in the conduit, which may comprise interwound wires one or both of which are of trapezoidal cross-section. The coating material fills the grooves of the multi-strand wire core, and has a wall thickness around the cable sufficient to provide a smooth continuous external surface.
