Abstract

Wire and like hinges.-In order to assemble by hand the metal parts of suspenders for wearing- apparel wherein two members are hinged together by means of pintles journaled in bearings, one part is provided with a sleeve having a lateral opening for a portion of its length and the other part with inwardly turned pintles so that when one of the pintles is passed endwise into the sleeve, the other can be passed through the lateral opening. As shown applied to button-clasps for hose supporters, the button-loop C, Fig. 1, has a sleeve F cut away on its underside to form two openings 4, 4<1> with inclined side edges 5, 5<1>. The attaching-loop B has pintles 6, 6<1> projecting from shoulders 3, 3'. In assembling, the pintles are sprung apart and one pintle 6<1>, Fig. 3, is passed endwise into the sleeve through the opening 4<1>, the other riding on the outside until it snaps over the edge 5 into the opening 4. On turning the loop B, the shoulders 3, 3<1> ride on the cam edges 5, 5<1> to centralize the loop. In a modification, Fig. 7, the sleeve F' is provided with only one slot on its underside extending from one end to about the middle and having a straight instead of an inclined edge.
