Abstract

1290711 Tufting machine, yarn control SINGER CO (UK) Ltd 20 Jan 1970 [20 March 1969] 14672/69 Heading D1G In a tufting machine yarn 26 passes around a yarn feed roller (as shown, rollers 11, 12) and a cyclically displaceable member 15 to pass in a straight line path substantially aligned with the axis of the needle 16. The member 15 comprises a roller geared at 15, 14, 13 to rollers 11, 12 and mounted on levers 20 to pivot about the axis of roller 12 under the action of adjustable linkage 24 adjustably secured to slots 20a in the levers 20 and oscillated by an eccentric from a shaft 23 to provide a yarn take up action. The needle, which is the eyed or hollow needle disclosed in Specification 1290712, is mounted on a needle bar 25 reciprocated by a rack and pinion arrangement (not shown), a reciprocable balancing device being provided.
