Abstract
1290529 Gas-fuelled lighters MANSEI KOGYO KK 11 Sept 1969 [11 Sept 1968] 44808/69 Heading F4F A liquefied gas-fuelled cigarette lighter includes a reservoir 30 for liquefied gas fuel, a valve 29 for controlling the flow of gas from the reservoir, a burner assembly including a gas passage a, a pair of electrodes 39, 41 extending into the passage upstream of the outlet, a piezo-electric generating device 17 and a member 21 which when operated acts simultaneously to cause deformation of the piezoelectric device and to open the valve 29. Pressure is exerted on the piezoelectric device 17 by an eccentric cam 15 mounted on a shaft. The member 21 is also mounted on the shaft and a valve opening and closing member 27 is disposed in the path through which the member 21 is adapted to rock. The electrodes 39, 41, which are electrically connected to the device 17 and a spark gap 38, are disposed downstream of a primary air inlet 46 and a wire mesh 44. The burner may include heat resistant and water repellant-portions, Figs. 6, 7, 8, 9, not shown. In a modification Fig. 4, the piezoelectric device 17<SP>1</SP> is activated by being struck by a spring loaded hammer 62 operated by a cam 115 which cam is carried on a movable member 58 which also opens two gas valves, the spark igniting the gas from one valve which in turn ignites gas from the other valve issuing from the burner.
