Abstract
1289370 Enzyme-containing granules KNAPSACK AG 6 Nov 1970 [19 Nov 1969] 52929/70 Addition to 1217639 Heading C5D A process for the manufacture of enzymecontaining granules (for use as a detergent or cleansing agent component), which consist substantially of a hydrated alkali metal or ammonium salt of an inorganic or organic acid and minor proportions of an enzyme and a cellulose ether, comprises spraying an aqueous solution or suspension of a cellulose ether and an enzyme on to a hydratable, anhydrous or partially hydrated alkali metal or ammonium salt of an inorganic or organic acid, wherein the cation of the salt is the lithium, sodium, potassium or NH 4 ion and the acid component consists of sulphuric acid, a polyphosphoric acid, nitrilotriacetic acid or ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid, and wherein the whole is granulated with thorough agitation, while effecting the spraying step, according to the parent Specification, further characterized in that the water content of the aqueous solution or suspension is sufficient to effect hydration of between 93 and 98%, preferably 96%, of the alkali metal or ammonium salt present in the finished granules.
