Abstract

1289059 Coated sheet material LITTON BUSINESS SYSTEMS Inc 19 April 1971 [6 Feb 1970] 21128/71 Heading B2E A base stock material for labels, tapes, stickers, posters and the like comprises a substrate and a water-soluble pressure-sensitive adhesive between which is sandwiched a barrier layer soluble in an aqueous alkaline medium of pH over 8. The substrate may be a cloth or paper and the alkaline-soluble layer may be of casein, isolated soy protein, sodium polyacrylate, certain polyvinyl acetates and certain starches. The layer may be 0.1-5 mils. thick. A sheet of paper carrying a release coating may be placed over the pressure-sensitive adhesive coating. The various coatings may be applied by reverse roll, doctor blade, knife or gravure coating.
