Abstract

1288114 Drawing SCHUMAG SCHUMACHER METALLWERKE GmbH 22 June 1970 [16 July 1969] 30173/70 Heading B3P [Also in Division F2] In a drawing machine having at least one drawing carriage 10, 10<SP>1</SP> moved by a rotating cam 1, 1<SP>1</SP>, the stroke of the drawing carriage is increased by positioning an intermediate carriage 4, 4<SP>1</SP> between the drawing carriage 10, 10<SP>1</SP> and the cam 1, 1<SP>1</SP>. Two intermediate carriages 4, 4<SP>1</SP> are reciprocated in the drawing direction by follower rollers 2, 3; 21, 3<SP>1</SP> co-operating with the cams 1, 1<SP>1</SP> which are rotated by a mainshaft 14. Two pinions 5 are mounted in each intermediate carriage 4, 4<SP>1</SP> and mesh with stationary racks 8 fixed to the machine frame and with a movable rack 7, 7<SP>1</SP> coupled in the drawing direction to the drawing carriage 10, 10<SP>1</SP> by a coupling 9, 9<SP>1</SP>. Each rack 7, 7<SP>1</SP> is moved a greater distance than the stroke of the carriage 4, 4<SP>1</SP> thereby amplifying the stroke of the drawing carriage 10, 10<SP>1</SP>. The pinions and racks are made in two halves (Fig. 6a, not shown), one half being adjustable relative to the other. Each pinion 5 may be replaced by double pinions (17<SP>1</SP>, 17<SP>11</SP>) (Fig. 5, not shown) one of which engages the stationary rack (16) and the other engages the movable rack 7. The cam track is thickened at point (31) (Fig. 7, not shown) corresponding to the reversal point of the carriage 4 so as to ensure contact of the rollers 2, 3 with the cam.
