Abstract
1471918 Rolling tubes MANNESMANNMEER AG 30 April 1974 [7 June 1973] 18946/74 Heading B3M A cold pilger rolling mill for tubes includes a pair of grooved rolls 1 mounted in a stand 16 which is reciprocated by a crank drive 8 and has counterweights 15 and 14, the rolls rotating through an angle greater than 360 degrees during each direction of travel of the stand. The angle may be more than 360 degrees, and the tube being rolled is indexed between each direction of travel. The rolls. Fig. 1A, are shown before moving to the right in a working stroke, the rolls being rotated by fixed racks (Fig. 3, not shown), as the stand reciprocates. Before this movement, the tube 3 may be rotated and advanced to the right, and before the rolls return for a second working stroke, the tube may be merely rotated, the mandrel 2 remaining stationary. The subject matter of Specification 1,129,969 is disclaimed.
