Abstract

1287860 Printing apparatus W H GRANGER 20 July 1971 [23 April 1971] 33933/71 Heading B6C In a rotary printing press which is adapted for conversion from a two-set letterpress machine, Fig. 6A, to a perfecting offset machine, Fig. 6B, the side frames are provided with arcuate slots 17 for slidably supporting the bearings of the impression or offset cylinders 42 to permit the aforesaid conversion. The bearings are held in arcuate mounting blocks 18 and may be adjusted by screw devices 26 and 27 operating in conjunction with indicators 31. Wedge devices may be used in place of the screws. The bearing housings may be eccentrically mounted within the blocks for movement by further screw means to permit fine adjustment of the positions of cylinders 42. The ink metering roller 56 may be mounted for movement to the opposite side of the frame roller 52 (compare Figs. 6A & 6B) to permit the roller 52 to be rotated in either direction depending on the set-up of the press.
