1286059 Pressure sensitive transfer element COLUMBIA RIBBON & CARBON MFG CO 19 April 1971 [6 April 1970] 25061/71 Heading D2B [Also in Divisions C4 and C5] A pressure-sensitive transfer element comprises a flexible foundation having a plastics surface supporting a pressure-transferable imaging layer comprising a hard wax, a silicone oil incompatible with the hard wax, a filmforming binder, and an imaging material, a part of the hard wax being present in the imaging layer in the form of discrete particles. The flexible foundation having a plastics surface may be a plastics film or plastics-coated paper. Specified waxes are carnauba, candelilla, ouricury, montan, and oxidised microcrystalline waxes. The film-forming binder may be a cellulose ether, polystyrene, butadienestyrene copolymer, vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer, polyvinyl butyral, or a mixture of a cellulose ether with any one of the other polymers. A surface active agent may be included in the imaging layer. The imaging material may be a conventional colouring material, e.g. carbon black and/or colour-forming precursor, or a magnetic pigment. Luminescent materials, e.g. phosphors may be included in the imaging material.
