Abstract
1285755 Bearings KARL SCHMIDT GmbH 12 Aug 1969 40245/69 Heading F2A [Also in Divisions B3 and C7] A bearing member has an iron or steel backing on to which is cast, sintered or plated a bearing liner comprising an aluminium alloy containing 2 to 15% by wt. lead, more than 6 to 15% silicon and the balance aluminium. The alloy may also contain 0À01 to 5% tin, 0À01 to 5% magnesium, manganese, iron and/or nickel, 0À01 to 10% copper and/or zinc, and 0À01 to 3% arsenic and/or calcium. A composite strip of the alloy on a steel backing may be made by rolling together a strip of alloy and a steel strip or by casting the alloy on to the heated steel strip (see Division B3) or by sintering alloy powder scattered on the steel strip (see Division C7). Bearings are produced from the composite strip in a conventional manner.
