Abstract

1284950 Container closure ALUMINUM CO OF AMERICA 13 Aug 1970 [29 Aug 1969] 39086/70 Heading B8T A metal closure 18 has a compressible insert 26, such that the closure can be loosely fitted over a container rim 16 and when radial pressure is applied to the closure, the insert 26 engages with projections 12 on the rim to retain closure, which is then rotatably removable. The pressure applying means may be a die 30, which may be provided with ridges 38, 39 to produce knurling on the closure member. The flow of the insert 26 around the projections on the rim, which may be screw threads, could be enhanced by using heat. The metal of the closure may be aluminium.
