Abstract

1284610 Keels; centre-boards G PHILIBERT 6 Aug 1969 [14 Aug 1968] 39315/69 Headings B7S and B7V [Also in Division G1] A keel or centre-board has a part which can be set to counteract drift. The lower blade 1 of a drop keel, Fig. 1, is movable by arm 15 and shaft 10 to apply this correction and, as illustrated in Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), a pulley system can be provided to permit remote control of the arm 15. Blade 1 may be of air-foil cross-section (Fig. 6, not shown) and hollow. Figs. 7, 13 and 14 (not shown) illustrate angularly adjustable keel plates located inside ballasting frames rigid with the hull, and in the modification of Fig. 14, additional adjusting flaps (58, 61) are provided.
