Abstract
1284066 Non-magnetic steel JAPAN STEEL WORKS Ltd 20 Feb 1970 [3 Oct 1969] 8336/70 Heading C7A A non-magnetic steel alloy having a high 0À2% yield strength consists of by weight per cent: C 0À3-0À7 Si 0-1 Mn 5-25 Ni 0-10 Cr 3.5-10 Mo 1-3À5 (part of which, in excess of 1%, may be replaced by W) V 0À5-1À5 N 0-0.12 balance iron, the alloy being subjected to age hardening after cold working. Also present may be: Nb 0-0À5 Ti 0-0À5 P and S may be present as impurities, In an example the high yield strength is obtained by solution heat-treatment to 1,200‹C. followed by water cooling, 25% cold working and finally age hardening at 600‹C. for 5 hours. The alloy may be used in the construction of electric generators.
