Abstract

1283182 Selective printing BURROUGHS CORP 19 April 1971 [16 March 1970] 22849/71 Heading B6F Document positioning apparatus includes a chamber 37 for laterally supporting a document 71, a front edge stop 75 for indexing the leading edge of the document and an elevation mechanism for adjusting the vertical position of the document. The elevation mechanism includes a plurality of rotatable cams (81, 83, Figs. 3 and 4) on a common shaft (85); the cams having a series of steps (97) to support the bottom edge of the document at different heights. When a document 71 is to be inserted in the printer, feed rollers 23, 25 are separated by pivoting the lever 41 with electromagnet 73, and the front edge stop is urged into position with a spring 53. The cams (81, 83) are rotated to adjust the vertical position of the document which is inserted and moved up to the front edge stop 75. Thereupon, the drive rollers 23, 25 engage the document and the front edge stop 75 is retracted.
