Abstract

1307201 Feeding sheets V S BROWN & CO Ltd 4 Jan 1972 [6 Jan 1971] 693/71 Heading B8R A device for separating sheets from the bottom of a pile 4 comprises an apertured table 1, a friction pad 9 mounted for reciprocation beneath the table and a lifting mechanism arranged to lift the pad into engagement with the bottom sheet of the pile on movement of the pad towards a discharge gate 6 and to permit lowering of the pad during return movement of the latter. The reciprocating means for the pad may comprise a crank 17 and a connecting-rod 14. Elongated slot 19 in the rod permits the pad to be momentarily pulled forward as the separated sheet is gripped by more rapidly moving take-out rollers 30 and 31. The lifting means may comprise arms 20 and 21, rockable about pivots 22 and 23 by a cam 29. The arms carry rollers 25 and 26 which abut the rear face of the friction pad. Apertures 32 and 33 in the pad permit the latter to fall rapidly under gravity as the rollers enter the apertures at the front end of the stroke of the pad. A quick release of the sheet is thereby ensured.
